Designing a Life I’m Excited to Wake Up To
Lately, I’ve been feeling stuck between what I think my business should be and what I want it to be. Right now, my Instagram is a mix of cleaning content, a planner I designed, and some random blog posts. But cleaning doesn’t inspire me anymore—what really excites me is designing and selling things that help people create beautiful, organized lives. I want to help others (and myself) live out the dream life that’s reflected in our Pinterest boards.
Why I Want My Life to Look Like My Pinterest Board
Scrolling through Pinterest gives me this spark—a vision of the life I want to live. It’s not just about pretty pictures or perfect homes, it’s about the feeling those images give me. But lately, that dream feels far away. Getting out of bed has been the hardest part of my day, not because I’m tired, but because my bed is the comfiest, coziest place in my life right now. I could stay there forever and not miss a thing… but the longer I stay in bed, the more I feel like my real life is slipping away.
When I finally get up at 10 AM, everything feels rushed and stressful. I’m anxious, my hair’s greasy, I’m late for work, I don’t have time to make a good meal or even make my bed. My life is starting to feel less and less like my Pinterest board, and I can’t help but feel like I’m sabotaging myself.
Remembering What I Love
I started thinking about the things I used to make time for because I loved them:
Getting up early to watch the sunrise
Buying myself flowers
Cooking hearty meals
Writing letters to friends
Painting while watching my favorite shows
Going on walks and hikes
Drawing and making crafts like bookmarks and cards
Planning my days and looking forward to the next exciting thing
But now, life feels like a one-day-at-a-time blur. I don’t even know what I’m doing this weekend, and even if I did, I’d be too stressed about money or work to enjoy it. It’s like growing up has taken away that carefree, optimistic version of me. I used to believe everything would work out, but now I overthink everything. Parking tickets, bad luck—it all piles up and makes me feel even more stuck.
Finding Peace, Joy, and Motivation Through My Pinterest Board
So, I went back to my Pinterest board to figure out why it inspires me so much. What is it about those images that makes me want to transform my life?
Peace 🙏✨
The quotes I save give me peace:“It’ll be okay, God’s in control.”
“For your peace of mind, don’t try to understand everything.”
“Get out of bed, do the things, own your life.”
“Pray about it as much as you think about it.”
And then there are the cozy homes—perfectly designed spaces that feel like a warm hug.
Joy 🌺🌟
Bright flowers, colorful sunsets, mountain views, lakes, and happy people—these things bring me joy. I love beautiful things because they make life feel vibrant and full.Motivation 💪🏊
I see shiny hair, cute outfits, perfect abs, and tanned skin—and it pushes me. I want to feel confident, strong, and healthy. It’s not about perfection, but about feeling good in my own skin.
What I Want My Life to Be
Yummy food and cozy mornings
Ruffly laptop bags, ruffly bedding, and bows everywhere
Shiny, healthy hair and a fit, confident body
A strong faith and peace in my heart
Bright colors, cute clothes, and joyful moments
Iced peach green tea, fun vacations, brunch with friends, and fancy dinners
Where Do I Start?
Trying to make life look and feel like my Pinterest board is a lot of pressure… but maybe I don’t have to do it all at once. Maybe it’s about starting small:
Wake up early and enjoy a quiet moment with coffee
Add bright flowers to my space
Go for a short run or walk
Design planners that help me stay organized and excited
Create art and crafts that bring joy to others
I don’t have all the answers, but I know this: I want to create a life that’s beautiful, organized, and full of joy—and I want to help others do the same. That’s what EllamaeDesignsCo is all about.
What about you? What’s on your Pinterest board that inspires you? Let’s create lives we’re excited to wake up to.
